Anyone who knows Kayleigh knows how deeply she loves her horses. This week her beautiful mare Hope suffered a serious tendon sheath injury after a freak field accident caused by a hard, blunt trauma that led to infection and damage to two ligaments. She was rushed to the RVC for extensive surgery to flush the tendon sheath and repair the damage. The operation went well, and Hope is now beginning her recovery and is expected to remain in hospital for around seven days. Depending on how she heals, she may require further surgery later on, something insurance sadly will not cover as she has already reached her limit before the full bill has even arrived. We are all hopeful that with time she will return to a normal, happy life.

The estimated cost of her treatment is £7–8k, and with insurance covering only £5k, Kayleigh is facing a significant financial gap on top of enormous emotional stress. She has not had the best luck with her horses. Last year she heartbreakingly lost her beloved Carousel. Carousel bravely survived traumatic surgery and enjoyed a few precious months afterwards, but tragically she couldn’t overcome the laminitis that followed. Through all of this, Kayleigh has continued to pour love, dedication and care into every horse she owns, always putting them first no matter what.

She would never ask for help herself, so we are doing it for her. With Christmas just around the corner, we know times are tough for everyone, but any contribution, no matter how small, will make a real difference in giving Hope the best chance of a full recovery and easing some of the weight on Kayleigh’s shoulders.
