Funding Freya’s Standing Frame!

Hi everyone,
As many of you may already know, in September 2021 I went into septic shock and spent 16 months in hospital recovering. This left me with a number of issues one of which is a neurological condition which causes Spastic Tetraparesis, and other complications.
Spastic Tetraparesis is a condition which causes weakness, spasms, abnormal muscle tone and paralysis in all four limbs. This has left me paralysed from the waist down and with weakness and dexterity issues in my upper body, particularly on my right hand side.
Life has been a bit of a whirlwind since, I’ve had to relearn a lot of skills that I took for granted such as brushing my teeth, writing, tying my shoe laces and even sitting up.
Unfortunately, a lot of the equipment which people with disabilities require is very expensive and not readily or easily available. I need a standing frame for a variety of physical health and wellbeing reasons which will cost £6k-£7k. The style of standing frame I need has to have maximum support for my ankles, knees, hips and pelvis in order to keep me upright as I have no control over the muscles and nerves in my legs so I’m unable to support myself and my bodyweight.
Without a standing frame my muscles which are already atrophying are going to become far worse which leads to joint issues, potentially worsening spasms and a lot more pain. I also spend all day sat down, only standing once a month in physio, so having a home standing frame will open the doors to a whole new world of being able to stretch and relieve my pain and spasms! I would also be able to stand to eat meals, and do activities with others such as cooking which will hugely aid my mental well-being, my bodies ability to digest food, circulate blood and help my nervous system dysfunction!
When my illness and disability occurred, and still now after it, a lot of people asked how they could help or felt like they didn’t know what they could do to help. I’ve thought a lot about this, mainly because I don’t like to ask for things, however without this equipment I am unable to live the fulfilling life I need! I would be incredibly grateful if you could donate any amount towards funding my standing frame.
Giving anything helps. Myself and my family are incredibly grateful for the kindness and love we have been shown over the last two and a half years.
