“ Many sports have British teams to represent in the world with little or no funding - unsurprising considering the number of different sports around. With Tai Chi being one of the more obscure ones; I’ve been on this journey knowing that I need to be ‘self funding’ even if I choose to go out to compete on the World arena. However, on this occasion, I’ve been surprised at the level of expense due to the location and requirements of this tournament. “ “ I’ve been training with Zheng Dao Lo Martial Arts Academy in Tai Chi for nearly 25 years, and as a Longfei Taijiquan Association team member. I was honoured to have been selected for the BCCMA team to represent Great Britain in the 4th World Championships in Singapore. “   “ I am embarrassed to fundraise for myself, but it is the way to go to make this dream possible. Other competitors seem to have had some success in this way. The costs I'm struggling with are:- Outward flight only to Singapore @ £525.89 Designated athletes competition accommodation at US$200 a night for 8 nights ( includes competition entry and transfers )  @ £157 (at exchange) per night Comp.
