Hello, my name is Caitlin Carr, and I am a first-year student at the University at Albany. My intended major is criminal Justice with a minor in social welfare. My goal for my major is to be able to connect with individuals on a personal level, alluding to my minor, and go beyond the surface of helping others. To be able to explore this passion, I signed up to be a part of the Lex Program, which takes students to shadow a lawyer in another country in the summer. In this Pre-Law summer abroad, I will be able to participate in multiple legal specialties, understand the life of a lawyer, build my network, and be around other like-minded individuals. I was accepted and given a partial merit scholarship of $1,300 to fund the trip, but I still need more funding and I am looking for alternatives to getting more aid. I chose to be stationed in Barcelona, where the entire trip would be $6,999. The trip would be from June 22 to July 12; a 3-week experience. This opportunity will give me the chance to explore the various aspects of the legal field and give me a step forward in my future endeavor, of potentially going to law school. Being a first-generation student, this would be a great accomplishment to be able to travel and learn more about myself and what I would like to pursue.
Thank you.
