Funding for Short Film "Night Quartet" by Libertad Rittner

Donation protected
Hi, I’m Libertad Rittner, a film student at Catalyst Institute for Creative Arts & Technology in Berlin. I’m thrilled to share that after a year of development, my graduation short film, Night Quartet, is now in pre-production and i’m looking for support to help bring this project to life!

We have estimated this budget that includes transportation, set design, props, costumes, some extra equipment, feeding and paying the cast and the crew.

Title: Night Quartet

Logline:
“A mysterious lighter passes between four strangers in the middle of the night, revealing a truth that compels them to confront their deepest struggles.”

Story:
The story is divided into a non-traditional four-act structure, connected by an object (the Lighter) through four different characters.

The main character in this story is a Lighter, which carries the wisdom of the Latin philosopher Seneca and passes through the hands of four strangers, each representing an individual struggling with toxic patterns. First, a young man confronts himself, through his relationship, with his illusion of what he thinks love is. Then a drug dealer faces a trigger related to his mother-son bond. After that, a sex worker, being the only pure character carrying wisdom, offers compassion and support to the last character, who struggles with heroin addiction and wrestles with existential questions and guilt. The Lighter serves as a silent observer, speaking personally to the subconscious of each of the characters.

None of the characters have names, with the intention of representing anyone who can resonate with them.

Each of the characters is assigned a color and an instrument, merging electronic with contemporary orchestral music composed by Pierre Relaño.

A little bit about myself:

I have written and directed three shortfilms: Veo y No Veo (See and Don't See), screened at six festivals including Les Infants Video in Marseille; Estoy Despierto y No Quiero (I am Awake and Don't Want to), showcased at the Blackwood Film Festival in Germany; and Eine Ballet Tänzerin Kann Nicht Mehr Tanzen (A Ballet Dancer Cannot Dance Anymore), which is currently in post-production and gearing up for distribution.

Here you can find my filmography:

This year, I had the privilege of collaborating with three incredible artists—Pierre Relaño, Timothée Rémi-Tekoutcheff, and Davide Pentassuglia—on a major project titled IN GIRUM IMUS. The project has been selected for the first round of the Gradus project from Reggio Parma Festival for contemporary theater taking place in Parma and Reggio Emilia, Italy, where it will be further developed in 2025.

IN GIRUM IMUS draws inspiration from Night Quartet. It is a piece for five performers, video projectors / lasers, chamber orchestra and real-time electronic, interweaving performative theater with contemporary music composition, in an immersive live act.

Everyone who supports will be credited in the film as a contributor. If you choose to donate anonymously, I won't be able to add your name, but I’ll still be incredibly grateful for your contribution, wherever you are.

Thank you and wish you all a good life!
