Funding for Receia Kollie’s Burial

Hello all,

With a heavy heart, we announce the unexpected death of our dear Receia Kollie. Receia, age 56, was brutally murdered in her home in Moorhead, Minnesota, on December 1, 2022. The murder suspect is her son, who is currently in custody. He was deeply troubled, and Receia's never-ending efforts to encourage him to turn his life around and seek help, unfortunately, resulted in her death. There are no words to describe the pain and confusion we're facing.

Receia was born in Monrovia, Liberia, on October 5, 1966. In 1989, she graduated high school when the Liberian Civil War began. She fled the country with her high school sweetheart, James Kollie, and the two married on March 9, 1991, during the war. The two settled in the Ivory Coast, where they gave birth to their daughter, Jemeia Kollie, and son, James Kollie Jr. Receia moved to the United States in 2001 with her family. They relocated to Covington, GA, where she gave birth to her third child, Recemia Kollie. She didn't have a college degree because of the war, and her dream was to become a registered nurse. However, after many years of sacrifices, disappointments, and hard work, she finally became a Registered Nurse at 54. We will forever be proud of her!

Receia was the pillar of our family, a loving mother, dedicated wife, aunt, and a steadfast friend to many. But, most importantly, she was strong and a woman of faith. She loved God and people and would sacrifice anything for those she loved. The only thing that gives us peace is knowing that she is resting in heaven.

Receia is survived by her husband, James Kollie, daughters, Recemia and Jemeia Kollie, son, James Kollie Jr.; and mother, Sonnie Boi. We cannot imagine our lives without her; words will never describe how much we love and miss her.

As you can imagine, our family is completely shocked and unprepared for the financial burden of conducting a proper funeral service and burial. Therefore, we are reaching out to you all in hopes that you'll show your support by contributing financially to her funeral or burial expenses.
