Hello my name is Jodi Timmons-Prell and have started this go fund me page to support my father Mike Timmons
The last year has been nothing but grueling. Around the same time Covid hit my father Mike Timmons was diagnosed with Polycythemia Vera a rare type of blood cancer that causes the bone marrow to produce too much red blood cells. The only treatment is to have units of blood withdrawn.The prognosis was somewhat positive. His pain and tiredness was suppose to get better with treatment. Dad started complaining of lower chest pain and was sleeping a lot. He went in to see his primary care doctor. They found his oxygen was low and was sent to the hospital. At the hospital he was diagnosed with pneumonia. He spent about a week in the hospital and was sent home with oxygen and antibiotics. While at home His health wasn’t improving. It is hard to remember exact timeline of the last few months. He started to see more doctors and Was having more tests. After a CAT Scan showed several lesions on his liver and his lungs filled with fluid a biopsy was scheduled. On Saturday October 3, 2020 my father received his biopsy and was diagnosed with small cell carcinoma (Lung Cancer). He started his first three rounds of Chemo on Sunday of two different chemotherapies. As of right now he is still currently at Upstate due to decreased oxygen levels. The plan is to remove fluid from his lungs and hopefully he will be able to come home.
The fundraiser is to help with medical cost and help ease any unnecessary stress Of medical that Health insurance won’t cover. We appreciate any donations and prayers during this time.
