*NEW UPDATE 9/8
Hi everyone, sorry for the lag in posting a new update. As you can imagine the last few days have been debilitatingly inordinate. Any “free” time, is rest time, and that’s happened maybe, one time.
Josh is doing much better however, still needs to be looked after. His cognitive tests showed lapses in judgement, his focus and of course, memory. Timelines, days and when things have taken place can also be a struggle. He will often merge two entirely different topics into one sentence and does it so seamlessly that it leaves you questioning what the original conversation was, lol.
His head injury is by far his worst injury and still has a great amount of healing and recovering to do. It has left him with a distorted memory, one of which he lacks entirely when it comes to the accident and the immediate days surrounding it.
His frontal fracture, suborbital fractures and nasal fractures, luckily do not require surgery. That said, his lacerations to his forehead, eyelid, under eye and nose did require plastic surgery. His (L) eyelids have even been stitched closed to promote proper healing cosmetically and to avoid drainage from seeping into his eye. We follow up with the plastic surgeon to have some of the sutures removed today.
He will be starting speech therapy, physical therapy and occupational therapy some time next week as well.
The doctors planned on keeping him for a few more days, but because of my history in healthcare, I was able to convince them to release him into my care on the contingency that I accompany him 24hrs a day and that he is not left alone for the next week or so.
Happy to be home, he’s up and about and seemingly on the mend.
Ps. I went to look at his car today for the first time and was literally in disbelief. So much so, that I continued to drive around the tow lot searching for his “actual car”. I was looking at it.
Josh definitely has someone looking out for him. He is unequivocally lucky to be alive.
*Please continue to share share share as the bills (medical and misc) have already far exceeded our goal amount.
We love you all and are forever indebted!!
*UPDATE 9/5
Josh is doing OK. He was thrilled to see myself and the kids today. It was a little tough to see him in such bad shape. Especially for the girls particularly our youngest. He has had a few surgeries on his left my area where he had taken the brunt of his impact. He has multiple fractures in his face that thank God, don’t require surgical stabilization however, have left him terribly swollen in the face and forehead, He endured a pretty severe concussion that has left him in a bit of a fog, and at times confused however, he is coherent and all there-ish (due to meds and the head trauma) this will subside with time. He remains in ICU but we hope to have him transferred out there within the next couple days. He has a few pretty severe lacerations over his left eye that has left his eye shut for the time being there’s an extreme amount of swelling, and he looks a bit distorted. I was told his eyesight should be spared and that the cosmetic damage is only in soft tissues surrounding the area. He is also set to follow up with a plastic surgeon to continue his treatment, and recovery for his face injuries. He is tender in his left arm and left leg. He also has swelling in his right arm, and his left hand. So they are going to be taking him back for more x-rays to ensure they did not miss any other fractures. He should be starting occupational and physical therapy sometime within the week. All of this said he is on the road to recovery. And we can’t wait till we can bring him home with us. Thank you guys for your patience waiting for this update. I have things coming at me from all angles and it is a bit overwhelming so bear with me as I try to keep up. I’d like to think we’re being groomed for something greater. This too shall pass, and we will prevail. I heart all of you.
INTRO 9/3
Hi guys, my name is Sabrina. My husband Josh Carson Sr. (aka) Fisto and sometimes known as “PrincePark” could use some of the love that he’s given to so many, in return right now.
After missing for almost a day, I finally received a call around 7pm this evening stating that he had been in a bad car accident and was in a coma up until minutes before I got the call. He asked for me the minute he woke up, which is when they found out he had a wife and kids. I was told that Josh is in ICU, but stable. Luckily a brain scan showed no major brain injury. I was told he has trauma to his face and upper body including a severe laceration going across his left eye, at least 6 broken ribs, I believe a few other broken bones. I know there are other injuries however, I’m currently waiting on a call directly from his doctor whom will then inform me of the details. I will update this as soon as I know more. Nonetheless, he’s got some recovering to do and the bills for his stay and all other medical needs are going to start adding up and flooding in. It’s overwhelming to think of how we will pay for it all.
I come to you humbly when asking for this help from our friends and family and the community, as we have been facing adequate hardship.
Josh is a good man, a loving husband and father. We have 3 children together and we both have worked with the kids in the Oceanside skateboarding community for years. Josh has dedicated the better part of his time to bring our local skatepark up to par by working with the city to have shade sails added, a water fountain and running water inside of the brand new bathrooms that were built. And all of this he did for the kids and for the people of our community. So if you could help us in supporting him in his recovery as our family braves this new path together, wether it be prayer, good vibes and or any donation amount, it will all be immensely and sincerely appreciated. Myself and our kids are devastated and still in shock after receiving this news. We get to see him first thing in the morning and are highly anticipating our reunion with him. All things positive, we welcome. Thank you in advance.
