Final Destination: A Smash Ultimate Documentary

In the 25 year history of Super Smash Bros. there’s never been a tournament like this. Almost every top player in the world under one roof for the first time. Every tournament, every set, every stock has been leading up to this moment. 

Super Smash Bros Ultimate is the best-selling fighting game of all time, it is undoubtedly a global phenomenon. In this episodic documentary we dive deep into the culture and community surrounding the game’s competitive scene and follow the players as they compete for the crown in the late metagame of Ultimate. 

The history of Ultimate. The global rivalries between players and regions. The immense amount of mental training that comes with competing. And the passion of the community surrounding it all. These elements that make up the competitive scene all documented on video including interviews with top players and prominent community members from all over the world.

Our primary goal with fundraising is to be able to shoot in Japan during Kagaribi 13 and to hire a translator for interviews with the many Japanese players we would like to include in this project. We've already shot at LMBM, Genesis, and several regionals to document the depth of the scene. If we surpass our initial goal any funds raised will be used to travel to other major tournaments or for equipment to ensure the best quality video.
