Funding for Canceled Documentary Films

Hi! I have noticed a lot of support on GoFundMe for canceled documentary films; the film Jihad Rehab is a great example. I also work in the documentary film industry, where countless films by filmmakers from underrepresented and marginalized communities have been canceled because of a lack of access to funding and resources. This cancelation stems from systemic racism, homophobia, xenophobia, sexism which are sadly some of the founding principles of our society. So I thought, wow, this is a really friendly platform where people say they believe in racial justice, diversity, equity and inclusion AND freedom of speech and the ethics of documentary filmmaking. Cancel culture or consequence culture - whichever you prefer, are unpopular. It seems like a perfect place to raise funds for filmmakers that don't have access and have had their dreams and projects canceled just because they lack the resources and privileges that white, heteronormative filmmakers have. I believe everyone deserves a chance to make their dreams come true, no matter their background. If you support my campaign, I will ensure this funding goes to underserved filmmakers, and their projects get the support they deserve. I will work with a non-profit organization so that the funds are distributed just and equitably - I am in the process of talking to a number of them and will update as to which one the funds will go to.
