Funding for BratzCamp events

Hello! My name is Sunny (he/they) I am a trans full service $worker and $tripper of 6+ years born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. You may know me as @sunnymakesmesick. BratzCamp is my personal project and love letter to queer $workers.
BratzCamp made its debut June 18, 2022 as an effort to bring together queer $wers all over NYC + surrounding areas for a picnic. The event featured snacks, games, vendors, and even an X-pole. To this day, some of my dearest friends in the community were $workers I met for the first time through organizing BratzCamp.
I created BratzCamp because there were seemingly no events dedicated to community-building for queer $workers. I had no queer friends in the industry despite queer and trans people being the pioneers (specifically BIPOC $workers) and making up a sizable majority of our industry. $work can feel incredibly isolating at times, especially considering the only people who can fully understand us, are other $workers. Holding this event made a lasting impression on me, particularly when I decided to become a pole dance instructor subsequently.
Following my immersion into teaching and performing, I began to see the extent of how negatively mainstream pole dancing culture has been impacting $workers. Seeing and personally experiencing the unfair treatment, disrespect, and lack of acknowledgement of $workers, specifically trans and BIPOC $workers, has been for lack of better terms-disgusting to watch first hand. While $work is still criminalized, and while we actively face assault, r*pe, and even m*rder... the poor attempts for inclusion made by civs in various spaces and communities fall flat.
My top priority for BratzCamp events will be paying an all-$worker staff a rate that's worth skipping work over. This fund will be used towards the costs of future BratzCamp events. These events can range from shows to community gatherings and beyond. I would especially encourage civ pole dancers that I have inspired, taught, or educated to open their wallets.
Thank you for supporting me. decrim today.
