Hi,
My name is Ali Hanrahan. I am a mother, yoga instructor, avid vintage collector, nature lover, and women's coach. I work as a Freelancer, Events Coordinator, Yoga Teacher, and entrepreneur in Oneonta, NY.
2020 has been a doozy for everyone. Unfortunately, like many, I was laid off from my full-time job at the beginning of March. As a yoga teacher, most of my income over the summer months is made through retreats and private sessions that were canceled due to Covid-19. On top of this, if you know me personally you would know that I received a devastating decision that has affected my family greatly. If you would like to know more I am happy to provide full transparency privately.
The past four years have been very difficult. I was forced to really look inward and find a productive distraction from the challenges and change, that to be honest was a rock bottom for me. I poured my heart into helping women, cultivating community, creating, and throwing myself into passion projects.
So, I took a leap and decided to start Groundhouse Coffee + Goods. This is not just a local coffee shop, but a space to encourage sustainability, local artist support, community connection, and creation. The space will be a brick-and-mortar that encourages you to support local business, and it will be a beacon of creation providing an opportunity to bring people together. Groundhouse will provide space for co-working, opportunity for space rental, yoga classes and workshops, markets, and events.
With this undertaking and the current economy shift, I was not expecting to be hit so hard financially. I know many are in my shoes and it is not easy to ask for help. In order for me to continue with this project, I desperately need your support. I hope that my vulnerability to open up paves the way for you to express yourself and perhaps inspire you to take a leap in the direction of your dreams.
Please consider making a donation if you are able, any amount would be greatly appreciated and all funds will directly go towards this new endeavor.
Transparency on funding:
Restoration Costs (restoring 1800s Grand Union at 147 Main Street, Oneonta): $7,500
Equipment Costs (kitchen & coffee equipment, appliances, tables + seating) : $15,121
Overhead Monthly Costs (rent, utilities, food supplies): $5,000
- progress photos will be provided here weekly -
**All donations will receive a coffee tab, vintage mug, future discounts and a give-back from me depending on the donation amount**
