All the funds collected will go to well-established non-profit organizations working directly to aid the victims of the Beirut explosion of 8-4-2020.

On 8-4-2020 the people of Beirut, Lebanon suffered an explosion the likes of which has been rarely seen anywhere.  The explosion devastated city blocks in their entirety, leaving dozens dead and over 4000 injured, as of the time I am writing this.  In addition to the fatalities and injuries, hundreds have become homeless, and thousands have incurred damage to their homes.  This tragedy further compounds the misery of the Lebanese people who are in the midst of an economic meltdown exacerbated by COVID-19, leading to unprecedented poverty levels, soaring unemployment and food insecurity.

My name is Ghassan Atiyeh.  I am a Lebanese-born pediatrician practicing in Northern Virginia.  My childhood was spent in Beirut, not far from today’s devastation.  Beirut and the Lebanese people need a huge amount of help.  This fundraiser is my attempt to do my part.  Every penny collected will be donated to organizations on the ground directly helping the victims like the Lebanese Red Cross and others.
