Funding artists through "the space in between"

Hey, homies.

We are Jennifer Marion and Andre Ramos-Woodard, a couple of artists based in Southeast Texas who have come together to start "the space in between"--an initiative to amplify the voices and creations of unrepresented contemporary artists. There are significantly more places to look for spectacular creatives than the traditional, blue-chip gallery, and we strive for "the space in between" to be a space that welcomes and highlights artists that typically get swept under the rug. We also dig those artists that make things that "aren't art", too. The longer we're around, the weirder we hope to get.

Our fundraiser is entirely in support of the artists we plan to highlight through our calls for entry and for getting "the space in between" off the ground. We also want to make it as easily as possible for the artists we work with, especially when it comes to showcasing their work. We know how frustrating it is to pay $20, $30, or $50+ to multiple organizations just to get that "Thanks for entering but..." email. The more money we raise, the more we can give back to our art community.

Most importantly, the money we raise through this fundraiser will go to the artists who win our calls for entry (we currently do have one going on until July 15th. Check our insta @thespaceinbetweengallery and enter that mug). The more money we raise, the more we can give back to artists and supporters by increasing our prize amounts and hiring outside jurors. Secondly, we also plan to use the money for online services, that would make advertising and website building simpler like Wix, GoDaddy, and Mailchimp. Lastly, just to plant the seed, we eventually plan to buy a storage container of some kind so that we can create a physical space to showcase art, have exhibitions, events, etc., but it's gon' be a minute on that one.
