Hi there! My name is Joshua Buxton & I'll be producing this work for the brilliant Sydney Based creative, Writer and Director Layla Burtt.
We are raising funds for this student project, which 'A-Muse' looks to channel 'Phantom Thread' (Anderson, 2007), 'The Collector' (Wyler, 1965) and 'Synecdoche, New York' (Kaufman, 2008) in portraying a raw descent into artistic infatuation. As Layla phrases - the allure of the production stems from refuting Romanticised Artist-Muse relations, and unveils the sickly underbelly of unhealthy possessiveness.
Goals
- We're ambitiously aiming to raise $3000 for associated production costs which come with every student film. This includes crew & gear transport, on set catering, talent acquisition and certainly most importantly - production design.
- Beyond this - we have aspirations of promoting this work beyond our colleges insular sphere, and getting it out into the world. As Sydney based creatives, we have our sights set on SXSW, Flickerfest & if we're really dreaming - Sydney Film Festival.
Risks & Challenges
As with all student films, the biggest risks we face revolve around availabilities of cast/crew members, post-production muck ups and scheduling delays. However, as of the time of writing I'm quietly confident this should all go without a hitch!
What your support means
We're all budding professionals in the film/creative industry, and to build to our portfolios/to contribute to the Australian Indie Short Film community would mean the world. Moreover, we'll be able to tell a story rich with a unique lens of art and subjectivity - aiming to captivate those who's eyes would not be found if not for you.
Contributor Thanks!
We also understand about the current financial strain a lot of us are facing, so we welcome all donations - no matter how big or small. They're all equally as significant to our production goals, and we really appreciate your support!
Thanks! :)
