Hello, my name is Zachary McLean. I've been out as a trans-man for almost 10 years now, but have postponed receiving any gender-affirming care and/or top surgery due to lack of support from my family. Living with body dysmorphia over the years has been incredibly taxing on my mental health, and it is only getting worse by the day. After getting in touch with some resources, I found out I am eligible under Medicaid for gender-affirming care currently, which I am incredibly grateful for. However, I will still owe at least $3,000 for the assistant surgeon fee and pain management. This may not seem like a lot to save, but I was fired from my full-time job about 10 months ago, and was only just recently able to find a part-time job. This ongoing struggle has been preventing me from effectively saving money, as everything I’m earning currently has places they need to go. To combat this, I am hoping to raise at least $3,000, to be used towards the extra fees I will still owe. Any extra funds received will be used towards a brief night or two hotel stay and gas money, as I reside hours away from the hospital planned to perform this surgery. Any help you can give to support my journey will be more than appreciated. Even if you are unable to donate, please consider sharing. Top surgery would bring me happiness I've never experienced, and I need this more than anything right now. Thank you.
