Help My Family Rebuild After Losing Everything in Gaza

Dear friends, kind strangers, and compassionate supporters,
My name is Mohammed Wadi, A Palestinian from Gaza, and I come to you as a husband, a father, and a survivor. My wife and I are the proud parents of 7-year-old twins Adam and Toto, our greatest blessing and reason to keep going.

For seven long and terrifying months, we endured the devastating war in Gaza. We were displaced more than five times, constantly fleeing for our lives with nothing but the clothes on our backs, moving from place to place in search of safety. We were living in a tent, in inhumane conditions, and stripped of even the most basic sense of safety.

One day, while we were out trying to find food for our children, a missile exploded nearby. A huge piece of shrapnel tore through our tent. Had we been inside, we wouldn't be alive today. By the mercy of Allah, we were spared—but the trauma of that moment will stay with us forever.

In April 2024, after seven months of unimaginable hardship, we were able to evacuate Gaza and reach Egypt. But the cost of escaping was extremely high. We had to pay a large sum just to cross the border, which was beyond what we could bear. We lost everything: our home, our belongings, our lives. Today, we are starting from zero in a foreign land, trying to survive while carrying the emotional scars and financial burden of everything we've been through.
After leaving Gaza, I felt strongly responsible for supporting fellow students back home in Gaza. I volunteered to participate in scholarships for Gaza (SFG), an initiative founded by my dear friend, Ahmed Issa, to help students from Gaza access scholarships abroad. My role focuses on identifying their financial needs and coordinating with Ahmed to help students fund their fees for internet subscription, university application, English tests, and other essential costs.
This fundraiser will support my family to restore life and hope in every aspect of our lives after losing everything and being forced to start from zero. It will help us rebuild every part of our lives, supporting our family’s physical and emotional well-being. As Palestinians in Egypt, we have zero access to support or resources, and this is our only chance to find stability and dignity again.

Adam and Toto still ask when they can go home. We don’t know what the future holds, but we are holding on for them.
Every donation, no matter how small, makes a real difference. And if you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing our story. Your support, your humanity means more than we can express.
From the depths of our hearts, thank you. Your kindness gives us hope.

I am a PhD student in London and have set up this fundraiser for Mohammed's family with my UK bank account because GoFundMe does not recognize Palestinian bank accounts. All collected funds will be used to transfer money to Wafaa's family. I met Mohammed in Granada in 2021 where we studied together for a few months after which he returned to his family in Gaza. He often talked about his family and how much he missed his twins and wife. Please support this GoFundMe so that Adam and Toleen can escape a childhood of war.
