Help us to Provide Free Surgical Care for Peruvians in Need!

Donation protected
I'm Marisol, a general surgeon from Newcastle. This September, as part of a team of 15 volunteers, we aim to perform 200 surgeries for hernias and varicose veins free of charge for low income Peruvians.

Who are we?
A international group of enthusiastic general and vascular surgeons, nurses and anaesthesiologists determined to make a positive impact.

The campaign
We are going to operate at Ventanilla Hospital for 2 weeks, focusing on treating hernias and varicose veins. This conditions are pretty common and can really affect people’s day-to-day lives and their ability to work.

Why Peru?
29% of people live in poverty there and more than 1 in 5 have little or no access to healthcare. Also, hospitals often do not have the resources or expertise to offer the care people truly need.
Our goal is to make sure they get the support they need at no cost for them, hoping this will help them get back to work and improve their lives and their families’ situations.

How can you help?
We rely 100% on donations. Your support is vital to prove the medical equipment essential for the campaign and the travel costs of the team. Together, we can empower individuals to regain their health, work, and transform their quality of life.

Help us make a difference today. Every contribution counts toward transforming lives!

Progress
Yesterday was our second day, and we completed 36 operations!

It took some time to adjust and discover ways to be more efficient while understanding how the hospital operates, but we’re finding a good flow now. In two days, the rest of the volunteers will arrive, and we aim to get even more work done.

We have 8 more days of work to go and although we might not be able to achieve the 300 operations that we were hoping for, things are looking good and we believe our work will enable people to live pain-free, allowing them to focus on their jobs, care for their families, and manage the demands of their physically intense lives.

Many people here depend on intense physical activity to make a living, so being able to walk and perform their jobs pain-free will significantly benefit them and their loved ones!

I’m truly grateful for the chance to work with this incredible team of professionals. Each day, they demonstrate exceptional skill and adaptability, and even after an 11-hour workday, they still manage to share smiles and enthusiasm for the next day, despite being tired and jet-lagged.
