Meet Trixie, our adorable calico kitty! She is the sweetest angel (in our opinion, of course, as well as everyone she meets) and is known in equal parts for her stunning beauty and gentle demeanor.

Unfortunately, Trixie is experiencing some unexpected medical complications. Right now, she's in the hospital getting treatment for chronic kidney disease. It developed rapidly--within one day she went from limping to losing most of the ability to move her hind legs. She's been responding well to fluids, so we're hopeful that she will improve! We're still working with veterinary staff to better understand her condition, and what caused this sudden illness. We're waiting on a few more results and expect further testing to take place as well.

Trixie is a very small, but mighty girl!! Two years ago, she was found abandoned on the streets of Worcester. Due to her emaciated state, she developed FLUTD (Feline lower urinary tract disorder), and was only about 4lbs. She was rescued by an amazing vet who nursed her back to life--even taking her home to do so. When we adopted her, she was thought to be about 2-3 years old, but it turns out she's likely a middle-aged cat, closer to 8 or 9. We fell in love with Trixie as soon as we saw her and knew we would be able to properly care for her FLUTD. She's had consistent vet visits, and has always had proper food and care. We love her so much, as does anyone who meets her!

Then, earlier this year, we learned that she also has a condition that is essentially an immunity disorder which is attacking her teeth. She had several teeth extracted and will likely need to have all her teeth removed in the near future. Her cat cardiologist has also diagnosed her with a heart murmur, but fortunately she was approved to receive anesthesia for her teeth extraction. Since this last procedure, she has improved dramatically and even gained 2lbs!

Did we mention how resilient this girl is? She's had medical condition after medical condition, and through all of the vet visits, food changes, and medication, she remains loving and in good spirits! So far, we've been paying for Trixie's health care out of pocket because she did not qualify for specific pet insurance coverage due to pre-existing conditions. But, her medical costs are snowballing and we're looking for additional support. This life-saving hospital visit alone is expected to cost about $5,000, so that is our fundraising goal. We anticipate more costs in the future, but any support now would greatly help us to give Trixie the care she deserves. Thank you so much for any support, and even the smallest amount would help her.
