In October 2023, Jennifer Lozano became the first border athlete to qualify for the Olympics, representing Team USA. A boxer from Laredo, TX, the 21-year-old has spent the last decade of her life working toward this objective. A native of South Laredo, Lozano's story is about determination, resilience, and perseverance against impossible odds.

TRAVIESA is a documentary inspired by a hero who makes the impossible possible, finds the personal grit to get through insurmountable challenges, and the sacrifices required in the quest for glory. Our team will chronicle Jenny's pathway to Paris through the 2024 Olympics and beyond – but we can't do it without your help. As an independent documentary team, we are asking for the community's support to help us champion a hometown hero representing our city in the big leagues.

When people talk about the border, the conversations are too often reduced to narratives of manufactured crises and violence – stories that don't do justice to the depth and multi-layered experience of the people who live there.
