Fund to save Topher

4/12/25 EDIT: Topher is back home after spending Wednesday and Thursday night in the hospital. The total cost came to the high end of the spectrum ($3,130), but he’s doing a lot better, peeing on his own, and is set up with a couple more days of meds and the proper food to help avoid this in the future! Even though urinary blockages are so common in male cats, with the right treatment they can live perfectly fine long healthy lives. Topher is certainly middle-aged at 11 years old this month, but I know he’s got a lot of life in him left to live ♥️

Thank you to everyone who donated already!! I’ve been telling Topher how much all these people who have never met him love him and want him safe and healthy. And even if he doesn’t understand that, I certainly feel quite loved.

It’s wonderful we raised a third of the goal already! I will keep sharing in the hopes of raising 100%. I don’t think I’ve ever known financial stability, but I certainly feel more steady with people like you in the world.

My darling boy Topher had to be checked in to the emergency vet this morning, April 9, 2025, for a blocked urinary tract. He’s 11 and older male cats tend to get these sorts of problems, but without pet insurance it’s going to be quite expensive to treat. He will have to stay 2-3 nights at the hospital, with a catheter, getting his bladder flushed and monitored by the vets. I’m setting up this gofundme to help cover the costs.

Topher saved my life when I was severely depressed. He gave me a reason to get up in the morning and come home at night, to take care of myself so I can take care of him, and led me to the painful realization that to be a good pet parent means you will likely outlive your pet. No tapping out early, suicidal ideations be damned. He was orphaned when I adopted him, and I wasn’t about to let that happen to him twice. So, in no small or subtle way, he saved my life. Many times. I’m ready to do what it takes to save his so he may age comfortably for many more years.

This gofundme is to help me pay for his care. He’s already being cared for at the emergency vet I brought him to, but the estimate is between $2626 and $3182, which I don’t have casually laying around. I rounded up to $3200 for the goal as I also had to miss work today to take him in.
