Percussion items stolen while pursuing Master's Degree.
Hi, my name is Kelly. I'm a Music Educator by day and an active performing musician by night. Music is who I am, and my percussive pursuits have been the center of my life for nine years. I teach 5-12 Band and Choir in Illinois, but I have been pursuing my Master's Degree in Music Education in Kansas City, MO. Since I am here for the month, I took my percussion equipment with me.
A week ago, my Black Swamp Snare Drum and many thousands of dollars in mallets, sheet music, and other accessories were stolen from my car. I was, and am, devasted. I was lucky to have investigated and located my snare drum within 48 hours of the theft, but the rest of my equipment is gone. I am not one to ask for help with things like this often, but I am unsure of where else to turn. I spent the past nine years acquiring this gear and spent so much of my time, energy, and money collecting it all. Without this gear, I cannot gig as a freelance percussionist nor practice and prepare the repertoire I am working on. On a more personal note, many of the items I have were made for me by my mentor. These items are not available to be re-purchased. They were one of a kind and are now gone.
This link will show you a list of (most of) the items that were stolen and a list of the items I hope to replace. If you know me, you know the only thing I love as much as teaching is performing. Please help me get back to doing what I love to do. Anything you can give to help or spread the word would mean the world to me.
