Hi, I'm Amy Stokoe

I've been selected to represent England in alpine skiing at the 2023 ISF (International Schools Sports Federation) World Schools Winter Games to be held in Erzurum, Turkey from 11-19 February 2023.

I'm 17 years old and was born in Ashington, Northumberland and to go from skiing on Pegswood pit heap to ski racing in Asia is a dream come true.

The trip costs £2,200 which is a huge amount of money. I have a part time job working in the cafe at Druridge Bay Country Park during the holidays and weekends.

I'm on the England Alpine Squad 2022/23 and 2021/22. As a FIS ski racer and student-athlete I'm balancing my training and racing with my studies. My points for slalom are: 117.01; Giant slalom: 108.56; Super-g: 187.99.

(The best skier in the world has zero points).

Last winter it was my first year as a FIS racer, an elite skier, competing against women across the world and some of my best results were:

British Champs, Tignes, France: Giant slalom - 2nd U18 British NJC race, points 104.75 & 3rd U18 British in NC GS race. Slalom - 3rd U18 British NC Sl race, 14th Overall. Super G - 3rd U18 British NC race & 4th U18 British NJC race, 3rd year of birth.

English Champs, Bormio, Italy: Slalom - FIS 3rd U18 British, 2nd yob & NJR 3rd u18 British. GS - NJR 4th U18, 3rd yob & FIS 5th U18 British, 4th yob.

Baqueria Beret, Spain - Slalom - 3rd U18 International, 8th Overall. GS - CITWC - 4th yob, 15th overall. Super G - CITWC - 3rd yob, 10th overall.

I race in the UK too in the snowdomes,

GBR summer indoor series: 1st Overall Female & 1st U18 (July 2022) British Indoor Championships: 1st U18 & Joint 2nd Overall (July 2022). In the past I have raced on dryslopes in England and Scotland.

I train at Silksworth Ski slope in Sunderland with RTR race club and at Castleford snowdome with SZ Racing. I train abroad, on snow, with The British Ski Academy, racing and training in Europe. I'm a member of Weardale Ski Club and also go ski touring in the Northumbrian hills with my Dad when we have snow in the winter.

I live in Widdrington in Northumberland and study 3 A levels at Sixth Form at King Edward's VI High School in Morpeth. When I was younger I attended St Helen's of Longhorsley First School, Dr Thomlinson's Middle School, Rothbury. I'm also a keen footballer and play for Wallsend Boys Club in the ladies section and U18 girls team.
