Fund the SEND and Dementia provisions at Heely City Farm
Hi, myself (Lucy) and partner Archie are Special educational needs educators working at a SEN school in Sheffield. We are both passionate about providing care and support for people in need, in particular those with Autism and communication disorders.
Having previously worked as an Education officer at Heely City Farm, Archie has seen first hand the benefits of the provisions and support that this amazing charity provides. This includes on site; Animal therapy, Animal husbandry, nature connection and Independence classes. As well as outreach to local care homes to share these provisions with Dementia patients and other elderly residents.
These provisions are important to ensure that all students receive the tailored support they need to access learning, promoting inclusion and equal opportunities. These provisions help improve academic outcomes, boost self-confidence, and foster a positive school experience for learners with additional needs.
With regard to Dementia, provisions like animal therapy can reduce anxiety, agitation, and loneliness in individuals by providing comfort and emotional connection. These interventions also encourage social interaction and can stimulate memory and communication skills in a gentle, non-invasive way.
In our bid to support this charity and the exceptional work they do, we will both be climbing the worlds tallest free standing mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro, in August of this year. We are asking for sponsors for this expedition where all proceeds will be given directly to Heely City Farm.
Prior to this, we will both be volunteering at a Special Educational Needs support centre in Tanzania for two weeks. Here we will be providing support and advice while pitching in in every way we can to help this organisation. We will also kindly ask for any contribution you could give to help cover these volunteering costs through a separate provided link.
Thank you so much, we hope you will be able to donate to this wonderful charity!
