Fund the Roof Repair for Sisters' Hermitage
Donation protected
Mahalo for visiting this page! My name is Brandon Perea and I started this GoFundMe to help my friends Sister Avia and Sister Ursula of the Holy Trinity Hermitage here on the Big Island.
Sister Avia and Sister Ursula are two of only three Diocesan Hermits in the Diocese of Honolulu (and in the State of Hawaii). They have taken vows of poverty, chastity, obedience, and have embraced the vocation of hermit - essentially living away from the world to offer prayer for the Church and spiritual guidance for weary souls. However, this vocation is entirely self-funded without financial assistance from the Diocese. As of recently, the Sisters' home (the hermitage) has developed a leak in the roof - risking damage to the structure and opening the possibility of mold growth in the hermitage. One roofer said the roof would be $15,000 to $30,000 to replace, but by the grace of God, the Sisters encountered a roofer willing to repair for the roof for around $3,500. We are asking for help raising $3,600 to accommodate for the 2.9% transfer fee from GoFundMe to their bank account.
As we know, religious vocations are dying here in the United States. There are less priests, nuns, and religious brothers and sisters, especially in Hawaii. As a faithful Catholic father and husband, I will never forget the time my six and eight year old daughters walked up to these sisters, tugged on their habits, and asked them about what it was like being married to Jesus. In a day and age when our young women are being told by society that they are loved for the way that they look, how many followers they will have on social media, or how valuable they are in the workplace, THESE SISTERS ARE A WITNESS TO OUR YOUNG WOMEN THAT THE LOVE OF JESUS IS ALL THEY'LL TRULY NEED. Aside from their prayers and guidance, I am especially grateful for their presence in our community.
Many faithful Catholics hope and pray for vocations. Here, we are asking for help and support for those who are already in vocations, who are supported by no one but themselves and the Holy Spirit. You can learn more about the Sisters and submit prayer requests at www.holytrinityhermitage.com
Thank for you visiting this page and we pray for God's blessings on you, your Ohana, and all those living lives dedicated to building up the Kingdom of God. Pax Christi!
