Fund the purchase of a seal bag for BDMLR volunteer rescues

Hi, my name is Diane. I am a qualified marine mammal medic. I paid to receive this training from the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) charity and the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group in August 2024. As a volunteer, I am trained to assess, monitor, and rescue injured seals. I had the opportunity to put my skills to good use to rescue a harbour seal pup on Boxing Day 2024 in Portrush, Northern Ireland. With the help of two surfers, I was able to put the pup into a large cage and carry it to my vehicle to drive it to Exploris aquarium for rehabilitation. The rescue would have been easier if I had a seal bag to put the pup in rather than carrying a large, heavy cage over the wet and unstable rocky terrain. I contacted AP Diving, who make seal bags for BDMLR, to request a quote to purchase a seal bag for future rescues. The cost of the seal bag and delivery is £106.61.
