The Opium Poppy is a drama / thriller short film set in a post-apocalypse, where two survivors must grapple with betrayal and their own humanity after one suffers a crippling injury.
Director's Personal Commentary:
"The basic premise as to why I wrote the script is because I faced a lot of betrayal from people who I thought were my friends, and I was still really trying to grapple with how someone so close to you could be so cruel and leave you in the dust. Even though it was a somewhat brief friendship, they were the people that helped me transition into college and helped me find my community on campus, so it was a really odd dynamic of wanting to be thankful and happy, but also being angry and questioning their intentions from the beginning. The script unintentionally became a reflection of that experience."
We're hoping to raise these funds to help us pay for professional actors, and to help create a visually impressive post-apocalyptic set!
