Hi! My name is Carmen Joyce and I am a second-generation beekeeper and educator with NoogaHoneyPot in Chattanooga, TN. I currently manage 10 honeybee colonies. This year I am expanding my apiary to 25 colonies in 3 counties.

WHAT:

I am raising funds to purchase a Flow Hive to house some of my rescued bees

WHY:

Bees need a nice home! (might as well be a really nice home)
Gives back to the community and supports pollinators! This is a collaboration with Wildflowers Farm and, if funded, our committment is to plant a 10'x20' garden with bee-friendly plants including various herbs. Along with honey from the hive, the Wildflowers Farm owners have also committed to donating eggs and produce (from their farm) to the local food bank.
Flow hives are very unique and more interactive than a traditional hive. For one, there is an observation window on the side of the hive where you can see the bees working! Secondly, honey is harvested from inside the hive without having to take out frames.
My bee community (online and in-person) can learn from this unique style of hive as I will complete inspections, share video, photos, and updates. People will be able to ask me questions about the hive (in a live Instagram Q&A)

When I became a beekeeper I made it one of my goals to try out different equipment and make it available for others to see and learn from. So far I have purchased 4 unique, non-traditional hive styles and I think the Flow hive would be a perfect fit in my educational collection! See pic of Flow Hive below:
