Wild Ice: A Documentary Film
I’m Angelina Huang, a retired Team USA figure skater and filmmaker. I’m creating the world’s first wild ice figure skating documentary. We have raised funds to get through production (we are in Alaska right now!), but we need your help to finish the film.
What the Film Is
Wild Ice follows my journey to Alaska to skate on a glacier beneath the aurora and reconnect with the sport I once walked away from.
After leaving competitive skating due to burnout and mental health struggles, I found healing in wild ice - untouched, unpredictable, and free. This film captures that transformation: returning to something you love, but on your own terms.
Why This Story Matters
Too many athletes leave their sports feeling broken, lost, or alone. We rarely talk about the emotional fallout that happens after the spotlight fades.
This film gives voice to that experience - the trauma, the rebuilding, and the hope - through a story rooted in nature, artistry, and resilience.
It isn’t just a skating movie. It’s a reminder that reinvention is possible, that healing isn’t linear, and that stepping away doesn’t mean your story is over.
Why We Need Your Support
We are a volunteer crew traveling into remote Alaska to capture something that has never been filmed before. Every dollar raised goes directly to post-production, including:
- Editing, color grading, and final export
- Original music composition
- Distribution and delivery
- Film festival submission fees
- Premiere events in Chicago, IL and Calgary, AB

If this story resonates with you as an athlete, an artist, or someone who has ever had to rebuild themselves, your support would mean the world. Thank you for helping make this dream possible!
