Hi, my name is Michael Delano and I'm directing a film called Party's Peril.
A little bit about me:
- I'm a recent graduate from UNC Wilmington's film studies program.
- In the last four years, I've directed multiple short films, as well as helped on many projects directed by friends.
- I've also worked on multiple TV shows filmed in Wilmington, including Our Kind of People, Hightown, and The Summer I Turned Pretty.
Now about the film:
- Title: Party's Peril
- Estimated runtime: 50 minutes
- Genre: horror/drama
- Logline: A college student faces a breakup and unwanted guests as his party decends into hell.
- Length of shoot: 5 days
The film will be shot without a script; the only written direction will come from an outline. The actors will be given a start point and end point for each scene, and everything else will be improvised.
The goal is to create an environment where the camera feels like its own character, that the rest of the cast fails to notice. It will follow characters closely in long, drawn out takes.
So what are the necessary expenses?
- Practical effects - $700 - We have a few moments involving heavy special effects work, especially at the end of the film. The final moments are going to require some prosthetics, resulting in some high costs. We have minimized this expense as much as possible.
- Meals/Crafty - $500 - Over a five day shoot, I'm estimating approximately $100 a day for food. This will fluctuate depending on how many crew or cast members we have each day, but should average out over five days.
- Additional equipment/Props - $300 - This covers any additional production needs that may arise. We need a lot of party-type props, along with equipment to help the dark set read on camera. This gives us a safety net if we encounter any issues.
Please consider donating to this film! Anyone who donates will receive a special thanks credit at the end of the film.
