Fund the Dream: Help Jacob Schmid Record His New Album

Donation protected
Hello Friends!
My name is Jacob Schmid and I am a singer-songwriter/psychology student based in Denver, Colorado. This summer, I have the goal of recording my first legitimate studio album of original songs. This is a dream I have had since I was a young boy, and I need your help in making it come true!

My Story
I got my first guitar when I was eight years old. It was a cheap, scaled-down black electric guitar that certainly didn’t sound good or play well, but it didn’t matter. For me, it was a gateway into a magical new world called music; a world I never wanted to leave. When I played that guitar, I dreamed of standing on a stage, playing my music for everyone in the world to hear, just like Steven Curtis Chapman.

Over time, that dream grew. In middle and high school, I began writing my own songs and playing music at my church. I was scared, but I loved it. At night I would lay in my bed dreaming of being a professional musician. But instead of standing on stage, I dreamed of standing in a studio. I became fascinated with the world of music production, and I wanted nothing more than to take my song ideas and watch them grow into high-quality music that everyone can enjoy. The dream was not only to make the best music I could create, but also to share my life journey through songs that are real and true to me.

Now, years later, that dream still lives. I’ve had many opportunities to develop my skills in home-recording and I have made a lot of music this way. But I am in no way a professional studio engineer, and while I am proud of the music I have produced entirely on my own, I know it is not at the level of quality that it could be. In a way, I have been like a kid building little structures with legos, dreaming of one day building a real house.

The Goal
This summer, I want to make this dream finally come true, and I’m hoping you can help me! I plan to record a 7-song debut album, entitled “Putting the Pieces Back Together,” professionally recorded, mixed, and mastered in a recording studio in Portland, Oregon. This album will be made up of newly-written, original compositions that I have been working on for the last couple of years. They are songs written from a place of vulnerability, passion, and love for God’s creation, and I am so excited to be able to share them with the world. For me, music is both a passion and a ministry: a way for me to share my story of brokenness, redemption, and personal faith with those who hear my music.

This album will be available on all listening platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Pandora, etc. as well as physical CD’s by request. All songs will also be posted in video format on YouTube, which is entirely free and requires no subscription! Essentially, if you donate to make this project happen, you will not have to pay anything more to listen to it!

Why GoFundMe?
Unfortunately, the music production process isn’t cheap! Recording takes time, and studio hours are expensive. Other musicians like drummers, cellists, violinists, etc. will likely be needed, and their time isn’t free either. Moreover, the mixing and mastering process alone will cost upwards of $400 per song. Overall, each song will end up costing somewhere around $1,500. Being a student, I have very little capacity to make something like this happen on my own.

Anything you might have to give to make this dream come true would be a blessing! Even small donations add up over time. Your contribution may be the final piece in the puzzle that makes this project possible!

I am so incredibly grateful for this community and excited for the opportunity to make new music for everyone to hear!
