Hello, my name is Phoebe and I am fundraising to meet the costs needed to pay for a Quickie QS5 X manual wheelchair — an essential piece of equipment I need, that would allow me to regain a significant amount of the independence, freedom, and autonomy I’ve lost due to the severe deterioration of my chronic health conditions. The fight and struggle so far to even get to the stage of writing this has only further exacerbated my disablement and made my need for this fundraising help to get the wheelchair even more urgent and desperate.

Without this wheelchair, I am confined to my flat and unable to undertake even simple daily tasks that are taken for granted, like going to the shops. The world outside my window has become inaccessible, dangerous and scary for me because I don’t have this wheelchair. Having the right wheelchair would quite literally give me my life back — enabling me to move freely, participate in the world again, and reclaim the parts of my life that my illnesses have taken away. I can rebuild again.

Over the past few years, my health has declined to the point where I’ve had to give up my work and the business I built entirely on my own, in which I was devoted to helping and supporting others. Now it is me needing the help and support and without the capacity to give it to others again. I’m grieving the loss of the career and purpose I once had, as well as the independence and confidence that came with it. Despite all the challenges I’ve faced throughout my nearly 30 years, I’ve always fought to keep going — but now I need some help to take the next step toward living, not just existing.

The cost of the Quickie QS5 X wheelchair, fully customised to meet my needs, costs at least £2,500. Every donation, no matter how small, brings me closer to the freedom I dream of and pray for every day. If I am fortunate enough to receive donations exceeding what’s required to meet costs of purchasing the wheelchair I need, additional funds will help me to meet the ongoing maintenance costs of the wheelchair, ensuring it can continue to support me long-term.
