Hi everyone! As some of you may have heard, Bryn Mawr’s Student Government Association has largely defunded 48 of our 120 clubs this semester. Unfortunately, Bryn Mawr College Democrats is one of those clubs, and after hearing from SGA that there is no chance of us receiving adequate funding this year, we are asking for help from our alumni network.
Pennsylvania has key elections this coming November, including three judges races that will determine the balance of the State Supreme Court: a body with the power to make rulings on the legality of abortion bans, unconstitutional Republican gerrymandering, and the continuation of key voter access initiatives like mail-in voting. Especially in this moment — which feels particularly scary in ways we’re sure you are all too familiar with — we want to be able to afford transportation to and from canvassing shifts, and snacks and drinks for phone banks, letter writing parties, and voter registration drives. We experienced very high levels of interest at Fall Frolic this year, and are thrilled to have welcomed five new underclassmen to our E-Board this fall. Bryn Mawr has an amazing community of young people who care deeply about the future of this country, and we want to have the resources we need to get them involved and keep them engaged through this year so that we can hit the ground running in the fall of 2026 and elect a Democratic Congress. SGA has given us the green light to ask our alumni network for funding, so that’s what we’re doing now, in addition to pursuing other possible avenues for funding from the state party and external organizations (though we are not sure any of those will pan out). We would really appreciate anything you’re able to spare to help keep the BMC Dems up and running — even just a few dollars helps. Thank you all so much for your support.
