Help Fund The Bruce L. Aubert Memorial

Donation protected
With immense love and respect, our family is launching this fundraiser to honor the extraordinary life of Bruce Lawrence Aubert by establishing the Bruce L. Aubert Memorial Room at the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute—a place where compassion and innovation in cardiac care converge.

Bruce’s journey was nothing short of miraculous. A 43-year survivor of severe cardiac illness, he defied medical odds time and time again. But more than his resilience, it was Bruce’s quiet strength, deep compassion, and unwavering love for his family and community that left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

He lived not just to survive, but to give—to family, friends, and the future of cardiac care. Bruce volunteered in experimental drug trials, gave his body and time to research, and shared his story openly to encourage and uplift others facing similar battles. His heart, though fragile in body, was limitless in spirit.

Now, we ask for your help in ensuring that Bruce’s legacy lives on in the very halls where he received care, defied expectations, and inspired hope.

Our Goal
We are raising funds to create a named space in Bruce’s honor at the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute in Edmonton—a center that gave our family more time, more birthdays, and more memories with the man we loved so deeply.

This space will bear Bruce’s name, standing as a symbol of endurance, service, and love. It will provide comfort to patients and families walking their own cardiac journeys—just as Bruce once did. It will also serve as a lasting tribute to a man whose life embodied the best of humanity.

Who Bruce Was
Bruce was:
A husband of 55.5 years to Margaret, his soulmate.
A devoted father to Meredith and Elizabeth.
A proud grandfather to Zachary, Signy, and Colin.
A brother, uncle, father-in-law, and loyal friend.
A scholar, graduating magna cum laude from the University of Lethbridge and later earning his Master’s in Public Administration from Queen’s University.
A dedicated public servant for the Government of Alberta.
A passionate ham radio operator and life-long learner.
A quiet hero who gave his time, knowledge, and body to help advance cardiac research—not for recognition, but because he believed in making the world better for the next generation.

Why It Matters
This memorial is more than a plaque or a name on a wall. It’s a message of hope to every patient and family who walks through those hospital doors.

It says:
“You’re not alone. There is life after diagnosis. There is strength in love. And there is always hope.”

Every dollar raised will support the creation of this dedicated space in Bruce’s name and continuing the cardiac research and care that sustained him for over four decades.
