This is a team of seven 7. Yes, the suave seven 7th graders of T.H. Rogers School of Greater Houston, Texas, who have qualified for Odyssey of the Mind, Worlds 2025, thus creating history!

Learning from Odyssey of the Mind

Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. This has helped our 7th-grade students from T.H. Rogers, Houston, Texas, develop skills that will last a lifetime. Students have learned to cooperate and respect the ideas of others, to evaluate and make judicious decisions on their own. Our students have gained a lot of self-confidence and increased self-esteem through their hard work. In addition, they work within a budget, so they have learned to manage their finances. Most importantly, they see that there is often more than one way to solve a problem and that sometimes the process is more important than the end result. This program also entails extempore verbal and hands-on spontaneous rounds that are extremely gratifying.

Journey so far!

This journey began with a lot of passion around Nov 2024, that culminated in Regionals and then State and finally Worlds on May 21-24, 2025, at Michigan State University, East Lansing. Our kids are very determined to travel and share their hard work.

How You Can Help?

We have a long way to go to reach our goal of ~$10,000 to send the students and their coach to World Finals in Michigan. We are organizing fundraisers at the school and in the local community, but we need your help to meet our goal.

Our Cost Breakdown:

-$785 per person includes room, meals, shuttles around campus, access to all events, and the registration fee.

-Flight per kid is $400 (as of today's costing). The kids have to be accompanied by a coach and a parent volunteer. So total cost is estimated to be around $10,500.

An Experience to Remember

The chance to go to the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals in Michigan is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for these students. Being on a college campus, surrounded by passionate and creative students from around the world, will be a life-changing and inspiring experience these students will remember for the rest of their lives. Any financial support you can provide for our team would be greatly appreciated. Please help our children reach their goal and go to the World Finals.

As a give-back to the community, our students are planning to hold 1 free online meeting to teach extempore spontaneous verbal skills that would teach creative and out-of-the-box thinking once the goal amount is achieved.
