Fund Surgery to end Chronic Fibroid Pain
Donation protected
Hello Family and Friends:
For years, I’ve been plagued with intense, chronic uterine pain. In September 2020, I was diagnosed with multiple uterine fibroids. After so many years of pain, I chose to have a hysterectomy. My doctor put me on the surgery schedule and it was set for early February 2021. I was insured with Medicaid at the time, so the procedure would have been covered with no out-of-pocket cost for me.
There was one thing that my doctor was stuck on. How could I be in so much pain with such small fibroids? She consulted with her male colleague for a second opinion. He determined that my pain could not possibly be due to my 4cm fibroids. He canceled the surgery I desperately needed, wrote me a prescription for gabapentin, and referred me to a gastroenterologist. The next few months I spent working with the GI doctor and was diagnosed with IBS. I made extreme changes to my diet, but the pain was still raging.
I sought out a new doctor for a second opinion. She confirmed that my fibroids were growing at a rapid rate and my pain was directly related to the fibroids. Unfortunately, time in NYC was running out for me - I was in the process of a very big move back to Austin.
Since moving to Austin I found an amazing group of doctors that are ready to get me back to full health. The wheels are moving once again, and I have surgery set for April 14th, 2023.
With my current health insurance, the out-of-pocket cost will be significant. The clinic gave me an estimate and I will owe around $3600 for my surgery. With an $990.00 down payment due on March 27th, before the surgery date.
Thank you for your support on my final mile. Every dollar helps ♥️
XOXO
