Fund Sidd Villanueva's Vision for Amicable

Hello everyone, my name is Sidd Villanueva, and I am a filmmaker looking for some help funding his upcoming thesis project!

The short film I'm beginning production of is called "Amicable", and is about a couple that, after a miscommunication, have an explosive back and forth that leads to uncomfortable reality check on their head spaces and the status of their relationship. (I know. Sounds heavy. I promise it's not as dour as it seems though!)

This is a film that's bittersweet but hopeful and optimistic, focused on health and clarity more than the yelling the two characters will do in the short.

I'm launching this campaign to produce and complete this film.

My mission with Amicable is to tell an emotional, honest story that people connect with despite the contents being tough. There are undoubtedly many shorts that tackle relationship drama and the subject of betrayal and miscommunication.  What’s lacking is a new perspective.  One that isn’t the typical "screaming match and everyone leaves upset", basic story with no nuance or substance.

The decision to take on Amicable was based on the importance of the story.  Told in low moments in Michael and Ash's life.  By the end we realize, as Michael does, that love can only heal so deep a wound, but that doesn't mean it should be given up on; Despite past wounds and deep pains, the ones who matter will be there for you.

Michael’s perspective doesn’t rely on screaming or lashing out, but rather on explaining where he was wrong and how much he's trying to be and do the best for his partner.  A perspective many men share--one that isn't shown in today's media.

Amicable brings together a professional, talented team that has excelled in bringing films across all genres to life. We have been collaborating during the development phase of this project, and even long before, having formed outstanding relationships with all Crew members. The team is a group of young professionals, and we are all excited to bring this story to life.

THE STORY:

"When Michael tries to break up with his partner Ash in a roundabout way, miscommunication leads to an uncomfortable reality check as an explosive back-and-forth reveals uncomfortable truths about their relationship and their history."

Told with both perspectives in mind, this is a story about needing to face facts while also bringing an important dialogue up in a delicate manner. Despite the tension of their situation, there is still love and it's because of it that they can have a real conversation later.

THE GOAL:

We are dedicated to creating an earnest dramatic film with an uncomfortably real feel to it. Our small cast and limited locations--the Kitchen and Bedroom of Michael and Ash's home--make Amicable a story with personal stakes and a deep hit close to home. This project is an emotional collaboration among film professionals who share a love and passion for film-making. While we're just beginning our journeys in film, we still have a ways to go and this is the first of many steps.
