اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُم and hello. I am Huda Salim Khaled Al-Afash and I am trying to escape the dangerous and violent conditions in Gaza. I am 35 years old. I have not been married. I support my sick mother and father, and my disabled sister. In this war, I was exposed to many aggressions and displacement from one place to another. I live in the Nuseirat refugee camp in a tent. Our house was bombed and destroyed, and now we are displaced.

My father suffers from intestinal cancer, my mother suffers from chronic hypertension and diabetes, and my disabled sister screams all night long for fear of missiles. My mother has an Egyptian passport, so evacuation through the Egyptian border is our only hope. With your donations, we can escape and pay for treatment, medicine, and fresh food for my family without the threat of violence, rockets, and bombings.

In the meantime, to get a week’s worth of fresh fruits, vegetables, and poultry for my family in the camps, it costs us $300. Eventually, it will cost us $2500 for each child and $5000 for each adult to cross the border. Here are the names of some of my family members and myself trying to evacuate:

We are starting off with a goal of a little over half that with the hope to fundraise the entire amount. Even before the violence, I was struggling with low income all while trying to support my family. Life was bad, and now it has become much worse. I relied on the small salary to take care of my family and myself. I worked as a tutor for 8 hours daily to get money. There was no help from anyone. All my life from the beginning to the end had been suffering.

My friend in the United States, Emma Seslowsky, will manage this fundraiser and collect funds on my (Huda's) behalf and transfer them to me when we can raise enough money to evacuate via the Egyptian border. Please help me save myself and my family. Thank you.
