"On a walk home from school, best friends Annie and Meg have to confront the uncomfortable truths about themselves and their relationship with each other, before Annie moves away."
The Last Walk Home is a short film written and directed by SUNY Purchase Senior Film student Sam Vinson. The film explores the complicated experience of queer teenagers. A snapshot of the lives of young queer women and the pressure to be hetersexual.
This film takes moments from my own upbringing in Upstate New York, from locations that hold great meaning to my childhood friendships, to experiences that I felt and witnessed from others in adolscence, revolving around the pressure to conform and compulsory heterosexuality. No one gives teenagers a roadmap to navigate these complicated feelings, and the idea for this film really came about by thinking about those feelings and the effect of leaving them unaddressed has on people. To this very day, there are queer individuals who are deeply closeted- not solely by fear out of what others will do or say- but out of fear of what that means for themselves.
This fundraiser will go directly into supporting this production to design, feed cast and crew, transport, and secure locations for filming. Any additional funds raised will be used for film festival submissions. Any donations are greatly appreciated!
