This year myself and my sisters are running the Vhi Women’s mini marathon, any funds we raise will be donated to fund research in the eye and ear royal Victoria hospital.

The incredible nurses & doctors here helped me through the worst time in my life. They’re care and compassion made me a success story and I want to give back in anyway small way I can.

In October 2024, while putting my son Zach into his car seat I was struck with a firework that hit my eye. The injuries i sustained are lifelong, some physical some emotional but what i know for sure is i would not be where i am in my recovery without the fast action taken. Even through the terror I’ll never forget The kindness myself my family and all of my loved ones received, it will stay with me for the rest of my life. I am at the start of what can never be a full recovery all the while They continue to treat me with the utmost respect and I am spoiled with care! As a result of my injury I will never regain the vision in my right eye, I would have lost it completely and my face would have been destroyed had they not acted so fast and with such care! I have a long road ahead but it will not be a sad one. The amazing staff (nurses doctors porters dinner ladies and even the gent on the door!) are enough to restore anyone’s faith in humanity!
