Fund research for Kitty & kids with Long Covid
Charities are created when there is a need, and so often the Founder has direct experience or exposure to the problem or issue to be addressed. This could not be more true than when I founded Long Covid Kids in 2020.
I wish our charity wasn’t needed. As we now approach the third Christmas of my daughter being ill, the only gift we continue to wish for is our daughter’s health. Nothing could be more important. Kitty’s symptoms include cognitive impairment, postural orthostatic tachycardia, extreme exhaustion, abdominal pain, nausea, visual disturbances and auditory sensitivity. And Kitty is far from alone - she is one of some 100,000 kids living with Long Covid in the UK alone, and the global total is unknown.
Like Kitty, many children and young people living with Long Covid have lost lots of time at school and continue to live with symptoms that prevent them from spreading their wings and doing the things they love. Daily life has become a series of pacing, medication (for those who can afford it) and careful planning to enable even the simplest of activities that other children and young people take for granted.
Chronic illness is always difficult - but it is made so much harder when there is no roadmap to recovery. Investing in research to understand the acute sequelae of Covid (Long Covid) is the gift that will keep on giving. So if you are able to make a charitable donation this Christmas, please consider donating to Long Covid Kids and help to fund paediatric research. There are researchers waiting in the wings who want to do the work. They just need the funds to commence clinical trials.
Together we can make that happen.
THANK YOU in advance for any support you are able to give.
