Many people are aware that there was a tragic accident on the evening of January 8, 2019 on Cape San Blas. There was chaos, there were emergency vehicles, someone was very badly injured. At the time it was reported that we should pray for Jose, who had fallen off a roof. We all stopped and prayed.

In the midst of trying to recover from hurricane Michael, there was yet again another event that would rock a family's life. When the confusion of the night was over and the facts emerged, we learned that a man had lost his life.

The accident took the life of Rigoberto Gomez. Rigoberto pictured above with his four sisters, was on the job replacing a roof damaged by hurricane Michael.

Rigoberto, 42, is the eldest brother in his family. He leaves behind his wife, Merlin Perez De Gomez, and their three children, Any Gabriela Gomez Perez 14, Jefferson Rigoberto Gomez Perez 7, and Dona Paola Gomez Perez 4. He also leaves behind his father Santos Gomez Hernandez and his brother and sisters. The family lives in Honduras.

Members in our community of Cape San Blas and surrounding areas have come together to organize this fundraiser to help support Rigoberto’s wife and family in their time of great sorrow and need.

Hurricane Michael has affected all of us in many challenging and stressful ways! No family has suffered this burden more than the Gomez family. The friends of Rigoberto describe him as a hard worker, non-smoker, non-drinker and Good Christian family man.
