My name is Thoko Muodzi and I am a widow now residing in the U.S. and personally helping widows back in Zimbabwe and Cameroon. Let me give you a brief background of how it started.
My husband died in January 2017 and I realized I wanted to help other widows, too. In many cultures, not just Africa, widows are, as the root of the word says, "without voice". I wanted to give women moral support and groceries whenever i could. When many widows knew that I was willing to help them, and their children, emotionally, spiritually and physically; a group began to form.. Soon, almost 60 came for a conference we had with Michael Burns. They have now grown and since I have relocated to the USA I have sourced help wherever I can find it in order to get clothes and groceries. Our help has spread from Zimbabwe to Cameroon, where I have been using my own money to feed a group there. . In Cameroon most of them have no food at all and I was hoping I could get them to do projects so that they are able to look after themselves. I was thinking if I could get money for them to start poultry so that they can sell the products and have money for their sustenance, that would be great. They were very encouraged on Saturday to receive the groceries. One of them said she did not have anything to cook that day except water to boil and drink and sleep. Most have kids. So the group in Zimbabwe has over 100 widows and the one in Cameroon has 10, but I know the only limitation to the number of widows we can help is having the funds to do so.
