Fund “Hundred Acre Park” A Climate-Conscious Puppet Show

Donation protected
Get lost in nature with Pooh, Piglet, and all your favorite friends in a new musical adaptation of A.A. Milne’s original Winnie-the-Pooh novels, where the Hundred Acre Wood becomes the Hundred Acre Park! Playful puppetry will bring these lovable toys to life once again for a new generation of young ones growing up in a city like Philadelphia!

This production reimagines the characters for the modern child living in a time of climate change and urbanization, asking the question of “how do we talk to children about climate change?”, all without losing any of the magic and whimsy that made these stories magical in the first place. From Pooh’s journey up a very tall tree to meet some bees, to Eeyore needing a birthday present, to the time nobody could remember the last time it rained this much, the vignettes will take the whole family on an adventure across this lively park, while giving children a safe context to help understand the rapidly changing world around them. Hundred Acre Park is a folksy musical walk through the park with puppetry, whimsy, and fun for young children and inner children alike.

My Mother Once Read... is a traveling children’s theatre company that brings contemporary but beloved stories both to the children in our lives, and the children in ourselves. We’re dedicated to servicing families in all neighborhoods all across Philadelphia with free performances, and provide resources that keep children engaged beyond the curtain closing.

After a successful run in last year’s Philly Fringe and Cannonball Festival, we are excited to present our newest project titled Hundred Acre Park which is part of the Performance for Young Audience Cohort!

Our team of artists is eager to create interactive and engaging children's theater, providing mobile experiences that are able to reach children of all the communities that comprise Philadelphia. Support from you would mean that our team of young artists would be able to:

-Appropriately compensate our team
-Create durable puppets to meet all your little ones
-Education on sustainable actions fit for the entire family
-Cover festival fees

We can't wait to meet your family with Pooh and all his lovable friends!
