Fund Penske Rentals for NC Disaster Relief
Donation protected
Greetings! My name is Micah Arnholt, I am the son of Pastor Arnholt at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Columbus, GA.
Our churches need your help for Hurricane Helene relief. Bethlehem Lutheran and Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Columbus are raising funds to support our Brothers and Sisters in Christ suffering in western North Carolina. Two weeks ago, we raised enough money and supplies to rent a 26ft Penske truck for an entire weekend, and fill it with water, flood buckets, food, and hygiene kits to deliver to a distribution center in Conover N.C. From there, we picked up and drove supplies all over to areas and non-profits that needed it– His Glory Search Rescue & Aid Team in Lenoir, Feeding the Multitudes in Canton, Mt. Pisgah Lutheran Church in Hendersonville, and Trinity Lutheran Church in Tryon.
We rented the truck with a mileage estimate of 600 miles round trip, but ended up driving almost 1,200 miles over 4 days – from Friday Oct. 11 thru Monday Oct. 14. The cost of the Penske rental + gas was approximately $1,800. We are actively raising money and collecting supplies for future trips – blankets, warm clothes, cleaning products, propane canisters, and the like. Our next trip is scheduled for this Friday. However, for these upcoming trips, we need funding to cover the cost of the Penske rental and gas bills. Every dollar raised here helps us take another truck of supplies to North Carolina to help those who have been hit hardest and are in need of God’s grace and
mercy.
Our efforts are coordinated through the Southeastern District of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. Our major objectives for each trip are as follows:
1). Coordinate with local churches to raise supplies to take to distribution centers in North Carolina. We currently are partnered with St George’s Anglican Cathedral in Columbus, Good Shepherd Lutheran in Gainesville, and All Saints Lutheran in Blairsville.
2). Once we unload our supplies at a center, we will spend the rest of the weekend transporting supplies between cities and affected areas in North Carolina.
3). Once we return, we will update the Lutheran Disaster Relief volunteers and the district, and receive updated lists of needed supplies to fundraise and to begin preparing for the next trip.
4). We will also update you here with pictures, prayer opportunities, and how God is working in the midst of such an unprecedented disaster.
