Fund Palestinian Students Saji and Liana's College Education
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Yurii Holub, and I am running this GoFundMe page for my dear friend Saji Askari. I lived and became close with Saji in 2021 when we were exchange students in San Pedro, CA. I am lucky to be still living in the U.S. under protected status, due to the war in Ukraine. However, Saji returned home to the West Bank, Palestine before the events of October 7th and the escalation of the war. The city of Nablus, where Saji was born and raised, was once a bustling business center but is now economically struggling because of the occupation. Saji graduated high school this year and is hoping to go to university in Germany next fall. However, his family's business is struggling to afford school for his twin sister and himself. Saji's parents will have to sell their store, which is not only full of childhood memories but also their main source of income. Saji and his sister Liana are interested in studying Biotechnology and Law at a German university. They are asking for donations to help fund a better future for themselves and their family's business. All donations will be directly transferred to the Askari family.
Here is a statement written by Saji:
"Since the onset of the pandemic and amidst the current war, my family has faced incredibly challenging times. My dad’s small shop in Nablus, which has served our community for many years, is struggling immensely. Now, with the war and the financial crisis, we are on the brink of losing the business. This shop holds countless memories and connections that are deeply meaningful to us.
This year, I’m also preparing to start college alongside my twin sister. I plan to study Biotechnology, and I’ve been searching for a job to help support my studies, but finding opportunities has proven extremely difficult. The financial burden on my parents is overwhelming, and I am constantly thinking of ways to help. However, it feels nearly impossible at the moment.
Your contributions would directly help save our beloved shop and support me in continuing my education. Every little bit helps, and your support would mean the world to me and my family. Thank you for your time and your contribution to our future."
