Help Bring The Anxiety of Laughing to the Stage!
Hi, I’m Andrew Justvig—a writer, performer, and lifelong dreamer with cerebral palsy. Since I was a kid, I’ve wanted to be on stage. That dream became The Anxiety of Laughing—a deeply personal play blending stand-up comedy and disability to tell a story about grief, love, ambition, and what it means to live in a misunderstood body.
After creating a film version that screened at major festivals, including the TCL Chinese Theatre, I went back to the page and completely rewrote the play from the ground up. Now, with the support of Fred Rohan Vargas (Producer, Mixing It Up Productions) and creative Ashley Griffin, we’re preparing for a 2026 production in New York.
But first, we’re hosting a professional reading this July—a vital step to refine the script, work with actors, and share the play with industry professionals.
We’re raising funds to cover:
Actor stipends
Rehearsal and performance space
Script printing and materials
Travel expenses
Everyone who donates will be credited by name—or your company’s name—in a future playbill as a thank you for your support.
If you believe in stories that amplify disabled voices, celebrate resilience, and bring humor and humanity to the stage, please consider donating. Every bit helps bring this dream to life.
Thank you for helping us share The Anxiety of Laughing with the world.
