Fund our Grateful Gallery

Hi, we are OhPandah and Ciaran Globel, two artist from Glasgow and we have just taken a lease on a space in Garnethill which we are turning into a gallery. We have managed to secure a price we think is fair for our rent but the space needs a bit of work and we are looking to raise the funds to support us in this process.

We met way back in 2006 while studying screen printing at college, Ciaran taught me how to use the pen tool in illustrator and we have been mates ever since. We both have a love for graffiti and street art and the rich cultures that surround these art forms.

We were both incredibly inspired by Recoat gallery which was a Glasgow institution in our formative years, with Ciaran taking part in some shows, while I just attended them in awe (I was still drinking at this time).

That is something that is worth mentioning, I never used to do much in the way of art, I was more interested in partying and drinking. This continued for about 10 years but on June 5th 2017 I stopped drinking and taking drugs, the party was over.

Well the real party was only just beginning.

The past 8 years have been an incredible journey for me, I wouldn’t have called myself an artist back then, I just doodled my wee characters and it didn’t go much further than that. But in June 2018 I celebrated my one year of sobriety by having an exhibition and I believe having this focus helped to keep me sober that first year.

We have decided to open the gallery on the anniversary of my 8th year of sobriety, Thursday the 5th of June. We don’t have much time but we believe it is possible with a little help from our friends.

We will use the money raised to support the set up and running costs of the gallery. So far we know we need a new window, new lights and a lot of wood and paint to make it look how we imagine it. Having this financial support will be a huge help and will take the pressure off having to instantly start making a profit from the gallery. We will post updates along the way and be fully transparent about where the money is going and how your donations are being spent.
