Hello, my name is Ayu Larassanti and I'm running a GoFundMe for my Balinese Arts Organization, Sanggar Çudamani. I grew up studying traditional Balinese music and dance in Sanggar Çudamani, and this organization has given me so many opportunities for personal and artistic growth,

We are fundraising to fix our Balé Gong and our Gedong Pakaian.

The Balé Gong is home to our instruments, musicians, and dancers. We have taught traditional Balinese music and dance on our Balé since 1997, and it is a studio we hold near and dear to our hearts. Many of our students start out as 5-year-olds and train to become professional musicians and dancers. Currently, we have 120+ students studying dance and music at Çudamani and over our 25-year history we have served over 1,000 students and artists in this amazing space.

Our Gedong Pakaian is the space where we keep our headdresses and performance attire. We still have some of our organization's very first costumes, painted by the artists in Pengosekan and worn by their daughters and sons.

Our beloved Balé Gong and Gedong Pakaian are in desperate need of a renovations. Our roof has served us valiantly for years, but the natural material has deteriorated. Due to the humidity and the heavy rains, we are experiencing serious leaks.

Our bronze instruments, beaded costumes, and leather headdresses, among many valuables stored at our studio, are at high risk of water damage.

We will use the funds we fundraise to fix our roof!

Because Balinese gamelan is loud, we protect the ears of our young musicians by adding a layer of sound insulation below the roof tiles to dampen the sound. This makes our project beyond the financial reach of our organization, and we would appreciate any support given to help replace this material.

We want to make sure our Balé Gong can remain a studio space where our instruments are safe, and we want to make sure our Gedong Pakaian can house and protect our costumes. Most importantly, we want our space to remain a safe space for our musicians and dancers to rehearse, protected from heavy rains, where they can feel at home. Any additional funds will be used to fix our restrooms and our walls as well.
