Hello everyone! My name is Olivia Fontenot. Over the summers, I participate in an activity called Drum Corps, which is essentially a three month long trip across the entire country where I compete in an incredible group, pretty much the NFL of marching band. Drum Corps is the pinnacle of the marching arts, and I’m lucky enough to spin with the Santa Clara Vanguard, a multi-time world champion and 2025 bronze medalist. This is my third year with Vanguard, and I’m so excited! Unfortunately, this incredible art form is extremely expensive. Between dues, flights, and essentials I need to buy, I’m not sure I am able to fund myself. I currently do college full-time online, as well as have a full-time and part-time job to be able to pay for my activities, as I don’t want to burden my family with the costs. Though, many unforeseen circumstances have made it even more difficult to fund my summer. Among other things, my father unfortunately had to undergo an intense emergency surgery, and this has taken an immense toll on our entire family, both emotionally and funds-wise. To help with this, I’ve decided to create a GoFundMe!
